You might have been told
your child has a psychiatric diagnosis, such as Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity
Disorder, Autism, or Mental Retardation. Perhaps you have been told
a condition such as Obsessive Compulsive Disorder impacts their school
work. Or perhaps you have been told in more general way that your child
has emotional problems, and or in a more specific way that he/she suffers
from depression, anxiety, or psychosis. All of these conditions can
be associated with problems with learning and with school.
Diagnoses of this sort often
point to the need for general and medical interventions, in addition
to educational therapy.
