Public Law 94-192, Individuals
with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), provides mandated school programs
for most children with learning disabilities. This includes children
age 3 to 21 (and some infants or toddlers). Special education may be
provided for some children with emotional or other disorders as well.
The law provides for several individual protections for children with
such disabilities and their families, including their participation
in educational planning.
