It is always great news when new grants arrive at the Intervention Research Center, for the 'umbrella' grant serves to attract independently
funded projects and to provide research services to these projects in ways that enhance the cost-effectiveness and significance of any particular project. While new grants are arriving all the time, three new 'arrivals' were more auspicious: Bill and Donna Wirshing, investigators linked to the Psychopharmacology Unit, had twins and Bob Liberman, CenterDirector, became a grandfather for the first time on May 19th with grandson Samuel born to his son Peter and daughter-in-law Sarah.

New grants include a multi-focal and interdisciplinary study of Informed Consent (Jim Mintz, Ph.D., Principal Investigator) which was awarded by NIMH for 1998-2001; a study on Recovery from Schizophrenia
awarded by NARSAD to Alex Kopelowicz, M.D., Principal Investigator; and a controlled, clinical trial of the efficacy of the Community Re-Entry Module for enhancing continuity of care within the VA system, a VA Merit Review II grant awarded to Donna  Wirshing, M.D.
